The Irreducible I: Space, Place, Authenticity, and Change
Cecilia Dougherty

:::::Presenting at 17:::::
Sunday, October 21, 2012, 8PM
124 E. 4th Street, No. 17, NYC

Cecilia Dougherty lectures on ideas from her recent written work, which examines the nature of subjectivity and the function of potentially limitless networks of connectivity in resisting the state-corporate control of all aspects of everyday life.

Cecilia Dougherty Pesenting at 17

"If there is one area where the achievement of consciousness comes into its own as a truly essential act, it is the realm of everyday life, where every passing instant reveals that the dice are loaded and that as per usual we are being taken for a ride."

Raoul Vaneigem

Quotidian New York
Photo blog, 2007-ongoing

My walks and rides through everyday New York, mostly in Brooklyn, sometimes elsewhere.

...a sketchbook of photos and movies..from photography to witness, from space to place...

Reading Georges Perec, Species of Spaces and Other Places, I am humbled and realize how much looking and observing and living in a place it takes to really know where one is.

Reading Marc Auge's Non-Places: Introduction to An Anthropology of Supermodernity, one can't help but notice the human specifics, traces and personalizing that occurs in places and non-places.
